Katie began her practice as a social worker in the addictions field in 2003, focusing on work with teens with substance abuse issues and received certification as an alcohol and drug counselor. She went on to receive her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Iowa in 2008. She then worked in the schools with special needs, autistic, and behaviorally disordered children before starting her clinical practice at Center Associates in 2012.
Katie's therapy approaches focus on building a therapeutic relationship, working together as a team to address issues that interfere with her client's quality of life. Her style is collaborative and combines listening and support with teaching strategies that the client might use to manage their symptoms. She frequently uses humor and likes to be sure her clients are comfortable and enjoy their sessions.
