Job Title: Registered Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse Department: Clinical Services Supervisor: Medical Director Receives Guidance From: Lead RN, Medical Staff Full-Time (8am-4:30pm; Monday - Friday, and occasional Monday evenings) with Benefits
Center Associates provides quality services focused on meeting the mental health needs of individuals and the community.
Essential Functions:
Act as a liaison between physician and other staff members
Act as liaison between physician and client by listening to client problems and concerns and making physician’s instructions understandable to the client
Assure quality care and convenience to the client by completing necessary paperwork in timely manner and forwarding prescriptions to appropriate pharmacies when ordered by the physician
Establish rapport, understanding and expectations between nurse, client, and family by utilizing communication skills
Evaluate client’s needs and response to services through personal observation and assessment, feedback and client, family, and physician
Assess client’s mental health by utilizing interviewing skills to obtain needed information
Assess client’s general physical health by obtaining medical history and documenting findings pertinent to the client’s mental and physical condition through technical nursing skills
Assist physician and other professional staff with emergencies, hospitalization, and attend court proceedings when necessary
Attend CA staff meetings as appropriate
Support a culture of a trauma informed care delivery system that stresses a collaborative and inclusive environment and consumer and staff safety while respecting client choice
Participate in ongoing training in the area of trauma informed care
Teach patients regarding medications, side effects, etc
Possess knowledge of the theories, principles, practices and procedures of nursing
Possess knowledge of current psychotropic medications and disorders and/or the ability to obtain needed information through literature
Possess knowledge of the legal implications related to the nursing practice
Possess knowledge of client rights and responsibilities when receiving mental health care services
Possess ability to collect data objectively, record and interpret it concisely and accurately
Possess ability to interact with physicians, supervisors, support staff members, and the general public in order to establish and maintain effective work relationships
Possess ability to treat clients as individuals, be understanding and nonjudgmental in assisting them in meeting their mental health care needs
Possess ability to perform general physical assessments
Adhere to Center policies
Complete paperwork within Center guidelines
Maintain professionalism in the community
Maintain cohesiveness within Center practice, able to give and take directions and assist in problem solving
Maintain a sense of flexibility with regard to the site of practice
Has knowledge of HIPAA and other rules of practice
Provide and receive constructive feedback and make appropriate changes in response to feedback
Perform any other duty as assigned by the medical director and/or medical staff
Qualifications for the Job:
Education Requirements:
Graduate of a Certified Licensed Practical Nurse Program, Graduate of an Associate’s Degree Nursing Program, a program for a degree as a Registered Nurse, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Certification/Licensure:
Current Iowa Licensure as a RN or LPN
Experience Desired:
Previous experience in a clinical setting

Must have a valid Driver’s License
